On July 16th, 40+ entrepreneurs joined us on Zoom for an insightful morning event! This Healthcare Entrepreneur Meetup was not one to miss: HealthIT folks joined A.T. Gimbel, Tremaine Grant of Pulse, Sam Smith of Amissa Health, and Kareem Elfoulie of Senior Shield Technologies as they shared how they each started in the healthcare space.
These Meetups are part of an ongoing series of talks about Healthcare in Atlanta, with the objective of making Atlanta the premier place to start and grow a HealthIT business. The goal of these meetups is to facilitate connections, hear from industry professionals, and truly dig deeper into Healthcare problems that Atlanta entrepreneurs can help solve.
We started the morning with a good ol’ fashioned Zoom Breakout Room networking session to discuss everyone’s hacks for healthy eating. It was a great opportunity to connect with new faces and reconnect with familiar ones before we dove into the event.
Pulse
Pulse is a gamified fitness app combining social and competitive elements to keep users engaged and motivated. By integrating with Apple Watch, the app collects extensive health data to deliver personalized insights and fitness programming powered by AI. With over 900 users, including 164 paid subscribers and 50 content creators, the platform uses a dual subscription model that supports both fitness enthusiasts and the creators who inspire them.
Amissa Health
Amissa Health is a health platform designed to track and provide insights on menopause symptoms through wearables and self-reported data. By improving patient-provider communication, the platform helps support more informed and personalized treatment plans. Launching in October with Athena EHR integration, the company already has two pilot customers under contract totaling $530K. NIH-backed and mission-driven, it’s now seeking additional investment and strategic partnerships to scale impact.

Senior Shield Technologies
Senior Shield Technologies has developed a smart incontinence monitoring pad that alerts caregivers when changes are needed — helping prevent UTIs, a $3B/year issue in elderly care. With a reusable design and plans to pursue Medicare coverage as a remote monitoring device, the product is launching in the private pay market with a focus on home care agencies and adult daycares. Built by a Georgia Tech team and recognized with 10 awards, including honors from the Mayo Clinic, the company is poised to modernize elder care with proactive, tech-driven solutions.
